Small earthquake shakes up area outside Richmond

WASHINGTON 鈥� A 2.3 magnitude earthquake was recorded near Goochland, outside of Richmond, Virginia, late Sunday.

According to the , the temblor hit聽around 10:11 p.m. west-northwest of Short Pump.

People as far away as Rockville, Maryland, felt the seismic shakes. See a map of the earthquake’s range on the U.S. Geological Survey聽.

This latest quake may be one of many aftershocks felt in the wake of the聽tremendous 5.8-magnitude shake-up that 聽on Aug, 23, 2011.

The Mineral earthquake was the largest in the area since 1944 and was felt by tens of millions of people along the East Coast.

The Mineral quake caused $200 to $300 million worth of damages.
