SILVER SPRING, Md. — The roof of a 60-year-old church in Montgomery County collapsed Monday morning after the weekend’s intense snowfall.
The roof of the Shiloh Christian Fellowship Church’s sanctuary was completely caved in. The church, built in 1951, is located on New Hampshire Avenue near Southview Avenue. Pete Piringer,
spokesman for the Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Service, says the building was unoccupied at the time and no injuries have been reported.
Unusual creaking or cracking noises can indicated that the roof is distressed from the weight of heavy snow. Find more tips on how to safely remove snow from rooftops
