PHOTOS: WorldPride celebrations in the District

Throughout June, ²ÝÝ®´«Ã½ is celebrating Pride and recognizing and honoring the rich history and diversity of the LGBTQ+ community in the region.

Thousands came into the District for the WorldPride festivities throughout the weekend to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Pride celebrations in D.C. Before it started, Dupont Circle Park, which was set to be closed until 6 p.m. Sunday, reopened and the fencing around it was removed.

“This is a historic place for Pride. This always takes place in Dupont Circle,” Calvin, who attends American University, told ²ÝÝ®´«Ã½. “It’d be kind of ridiculous to not let that happen.”
